Meet Our Founder

Talitha Blackmoore is a mother, grandmother, advocate, and the founder of J&D Mom Cares.
At 16 years old, Talitha became a mother to her first son, Javares Blackmoore, who was born with cerebral palsy. Three years later, she welcomed her second son, DonDrake Blackmoore. As a single mother, she devoted her life to raising her two boys, overcoming countless challenges and making sacrifices to give them the love, care, and opportunities they deserved.
Everything changed on October 19, 2020, when DonDrake's life was tragically taken. As Talitha struggled through unimaginable grief, she knew she wanted to honor his memory, though she had not yet discovered how.
Then, on July 20, 2023, she experienced another heartbreaking loss when Javares passed away due to health complications. To Talitha, the bond between her sons was unbreakable—they were not only brothers but best friends, and she believes a part of Javares' heart was lost when DonDrake was taken.
Â
After losing both of her sons, Talitha made a life-changing decision: to transform her pain into purpose.
That purpose became J&D Mom Cares.
Founded in honor of Javares and DonDrake Blackmoore, the organization exists to support single mothers, bereaved mothers, and families facing grief, hardship, and life's greatest challenges. Talitha understands what it means to struggle in silence, to wonder where help will come from, and to ask, "Why me?" Over time, that question became, "Why not me?"
Inspired by her faith and strengthened by her journey, Talitha now dedicates her life to helping others find hope, healing, and the support they need to move forward. Through compassion, community, and meaningful resources, J&D Mom Cares reminds every family that they are never alone.
Because while grief is real, so is hope. And even after heartbreak, healing is possible—one day at a time.Â
